Setting up shop alongside Mourning Apothecary and Clara Jane this past weekend
We had another busy and bright summer weekend here at ENB and I was so happy to set up shop alongside two beautiful businesses spearheaded by gracious and creative women building amazing brands in Nashville!

On Saturday, Mourning Apothecary Teahouse & Co brought fresh, delicious teas for book shoppers to browse and smell and take home. I picked up two bags and had to make myself a cup in store right away. The teas were beautiful and rich.

On Sunday, we popped up at Clara Jane just down the road on Trinity Lane. It was so fun to meet new people and see familiar faces and spread the word about ENB! I loved hanging with Ali and Luke in their little playground all afternoon.

As the week begins again, I’m slipping books off the shelves, especially from our stack of feminist lit. Books like Our Bodies, Ourselves have served as community-empowered lifelines for women long before the internet.

I finished reading Mass for Arras this week and found it striking and also very in tune with what else I’ve been reading lately. I find myself picking up books that all speak to each other so clearly and wonder what in me chooses all of them at any given time. I’m still on dark and haunting and gory. From Frankenstein this fall to Carmilla and Dracula this spring, I’ve been in the blood and guts. Mass for Arras does all of that at the behest of a morally bereft clergy in a dying town, crossing paths with By Night in Chile as both showcase the depravity of cavalier authority.

And now finally on to Parable of the Sower! Can’t wait to talk more about it!
